A thoroughly digestible treatise on the subject of the light metals. Polmear’s style keeps it relevant, concise and up to date. I bought the book for its section on Titanium, but the other sections, particularly those dealing with aluminium and magnesium, show an excellent balance of good theory and commercial application. Also pleasing to see is the ‘right amount’ of background information given in the right places. Five stars it certainly deserves. If you deal with light metals, it also deserves a place on your bookshelf.
