#1 by James H. Brothers IV on April 12, 2010 - 7:47 am
John Percy may have died in 1889, but his influence in the world of metallurgy lives on. Percy published a series of books on the various metals (mining, manufacture, and processing). His volumes on the manufacture of iron and steel are crucial to an understanding of the history of ferrous metallurgy and still used today. This volume covers fuels (wood, peat, coal, charcoal, and coke), fire-clays and crucibles, copper, zinc, and brass. Hopefully his other works will also be reprinted.
